I have recently watched the Sharpe's series/films, and in so doing discovered the multi-talented John Tams. I loved the character of Hagman in the series; felt like I lost a beloved friend when the character died! John's voice is haunting and beautiful, his songs will be forever echoing in my mind.

I recently heard a few bars of a song which had the Lyric "will you go or will you tarry" it was on one of the 'Sharpe'repeats. No doubt it is well known and I am showing my ignorance but could you tell me the songs title and details of any recording/CD where I might find it. It is an excellent TV Series made all the greater by Johns voice and Hagman. The answer may be the same but could you point out the name of any of Johns albums that have tracks of contemporary english folk music of the time of the peninsular war. Your help in this would be much appreciated. Regards J Mellors

I became a fan thru' Sharpe and since then Home, Unity, and The Reckoning have added even more depth. Any sign of an Irish gig? Failing that a new album would be great. Best Wishes to all.

Does one of John's CDs include a recording of "OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY" - from the Sharp series? I enjoy John's music and would be interested in purchasing such a CD. Thank you. ...Jeff Brown

John and Barry, a quick word of thanks for the wonderful set you played at glastonbury, and also a word of thanks for mentioning my sons name, Nathan, on stage and dedicating the `sharpes theme` to both him and Mark Radcliffe. My son was in two minds about coming to glasto until we told him you were playing and without hesitation he said he was coming. I enjoyed your honesty and social comment within your sonwriting, it was wonderful to hear the song of steel. Keep writing and i hope we see you both very soon. Cheers

Well picture this. I was sat in my tent at Glastonbury looking through the artists' Looked at the Avalon stage. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh John Tams once i saw that on the thursday Sunday couldn't come quick enough. Being a huge Sharpe fan John's music has been running through my head for years. Just seeing John on the stage would have been enough but seeing him sing live and hearing that amazing voice made my weekend. It was worth the ticket price alone. With my hand on my heart I Got to say thank you to John after by shouting up to the stage . To hear over the hills live made my cry. John , THANK YOU . You are a true gent and i wish you all the luck in the world.
